Geocities is Back!

Geocities, the best free webhost in the 90’s is back with an offer that is difficult to refuse. Apart from the free hosting package which they offer with unlimited storage they are also offering paid but cheap options. The free package gives you a purely HTML-driven website. The paid but cheap option, gives you the chance to use PHP/Perl and Ruby for more dynamic pages.

I started to create websites using Geocities in 1999. Back then, I had to learn how to code in HTML since the JAVA application that should have made designing a webpage easy, took a long time to load. In fact, my first page on Geocities using their JAVA drag-and-drop application took one whole night to create!

In any case, the experience helped me familiarize myself with HTML and the free websites that the internet offered. So today, I am back at Geocities with AngFrayle. It is a website that I hope to use as a complement to these blogs, since there are some things that I can do with pure HTML that I cannot do here.
