The Workshop article for the 28th Sunday OT-A is now available under the Bible Workshop section of this site. The Gospel selection is taken from Matthew 22:1-14, the Parable of the Wedding Banquet. There is a sub-theme in the story however, about the man who got into the party without the proper attire. Thus, while the wedding banquet has become accessible to all because of the refusal of the listed wedding guests to attend, there is still a restriction — a restriction that is demanded by the wedding feast itself.
The parable of the wedding banquet is the third in a series of parables that Jesus presents to the priests and Pharisees. The first part of the parable applies to them. The second part however is for the listeners of Matthew’s gospel.
